Waterproofing bathroom walls is one of the simplest ways of making sure that you never have to put your money into a new bathroom unit again. While bathroom walls are often made out of sheet rock, they aren’t usually as waterproof as you might think. In fact, the majority of bathroom walls do not have enough insulation to keep water out.

One of the most important steps you should take when you’re waterproofing your walls is dealing with only two areas of your bathroom: bathroom shower area and bathtub area. These two areas typically experience the largest amount of water flow and are also most prone to mold buildup and leaks.

The main thing you want to do when you’re waterproofing your walls is to create a seal. Once you’ve sealed the wall with a waterproof membrane, you’ll need to then make sure that it doesn’t leak. One way of doing this is by putting in an expansion joint, which means you are adding another layer of material between the two tiles that will expand and contract so that any leakage doesn’t happen. When you’ve done this and the expansion joint is in place, you can then add caulking to further protect the walls against leaks.
