The Central Market is a great place to buy all sorts of produce, but also to eat a wide variety of meals and snacks. It can get pretty busy in the afternoons when specials are on, but still a nice outing.

The Adelaide Central Market is a community of people: traders, artisans and shoppers who share a passion for food. It buzzes with life and colour all year round. The market, which is owned by the city council, is far more than a tourist attraction.  It's always thronged with hungry locals shopping for weekend barbecues and beach picnics, sipping coffee or savouring a bowl of Malaysian beef rendang.

The Central Market has over 80 stalls and is South Australia's most visited tourist attraction. The market itself is a feast of produce of all types - fruits, vegetables, cheese, coffee, chocolate, bread and pastries, meat and fish, flowers, small goods and café food and is divided into a colourful array of lanes and broadways.

The Central Market today can be considered “the Heart of Adelaide”. Located right next to Chinatown it is surrounded by many diverse restaurants and cafes. There are frequent cooking demonstrations and often buskers to accompany your wanderings.

People love to return again and again for the delicious aromas, the vivid colours and the atmosphere of an international melting pot of cultures.
