We are nearly there for what most us have been waiting for. A competetive match against two internationly recognised teams of rugby union gladiators. The Warratahs like the Reds came out fighting but sadly they were so underpowered they were never really in it and we witnessed several cheaps shots against the visitors. However we were treated to plenty of tries and like the Reds the 'Tahs relied on quick ball as their major weapon. Sadly the Lions lost a major player in Jamie Roberts who looks likely to miss the first test at least least and who now joins the long list of walking -well limping wounded at least. Unfortunately the season is so long now that our elite rugby players (from both Hemispheres) invariably end up crocked through over-use.

But on to the main talking point for me of the week - enter stage right Shane Williams - the world's favourite winger. Cometh the hour cometh the man and Shane will never let anyone down. He played his last games for the Ospreys, Wales and the Baa Baas (scoring on each occassion I seem to remember) went off to Japan for a well deserved but exhorbitant sum to put his feet up where he promptly broke his thumb. Could he, should he, will he appear in any of the Tests - well don't right off anything for our diminutive legend of the Amman Valley - it could be worth a smalll punt.
