Although architecture around Melbourne is contemporary, the city has traces of 19th Century architecture that makes up its history that offer the most boutique stores available.

Right in the middle of Bourke Street, the Melbourne Royal Arcade is a small shopping arcade that has been around for than a century and a half, filled with boutique stores and impressive architecture. This historic arcade is an exquisite place to visit for gift shopping, made even better during a sunny day when sunlight shines bright through the glass ceilings.

The Block Arcade is a fine laneway that was built in 1893 and houses more cafes and niche stores, inspired by Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. The landmark is a frequent tourist attraction during foodie tours held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1pm.
