It’s the time of year when musical entertainment makes its way to the already buzzing Valley streets. You’ll notably find live music from midweek to weekend at Fortitude Valley; whether at the hipster hangout of Oh Hello, the easy surrounds of Black Bear Lodge or the long-standing residence for visiting national and international acts, the Zoo (to name a few).

For three days Brisbane’s official party precinct pays special attention to musical talent by releasing it from the confines of inside spaces. Brisbane’s official party precinct plays host to Valley Fiesta, a free council-sponsored music event featuring the best of local talent and some headlining international acts over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, afternoon through night.

With summer a mere week away, balmy nights are the perfect backdrop for enjoying the outdoors. Tread the tracks of Brisbane’s nightlife – with stages set up at the Valley Mall, Chinatown Mall, Chinatown Mall Carpark Rooftop, Winn Lane and more – and settle into your surrounds.

This year the Fiesta was set to be headlined by Architecture In Helsinki, but were unfortunately cancelled due to a severe storm (an indication of Queensland weather; as summer rolls in, so do the storms!). My favourite Australian acts that featured are The Cairos, Andy Bull and Gold Fields.

Valley Fiesta is a non-committal way of discovering new bands, artists and DJs as you navigate the Valley streets and venues. Look for the Valley Fiesta balloons out the front of 40+ partner venues, for DJs, artists and guaranteed good times.

Valley Fiesta 2013 finishes up today (Sunday 24th November).
