It’s that time of year again, summer is over, the weather is getting slightly cooler, kids are on school holidays and Easter is just around the corner. Sydney’s Royal Easter Show is back, and bigger than ever, perfect for an entertaining family day out!

Held at Sydney Olympic Park, only a 25 minute drive or 30 minute train ride from Sydney’s CBD, the show attracts thousands of people including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, this year! With over 100 games and rides, showbags, more than 10 000 pieces of fresh Australian produce on display, 40 competitions and 14 000 animals a whole day is needed to explore everything.

In the Woolworths Fresh Food Dome, there are exhibitions of Australian produce including grain, wool, fruit and vegetables from the 5 agricultural districts in NSW and South East Queensland. Each display is judged based on produce and display. Discover fruits and vegetables you never knew existed and tantalise your tastebuds with the free food testing in the dome!

A wide variety of animals including alpacas, cattle, dogs, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, birds and even bees, call the Olympic Park home for the period of the Easter Show and the best way to see all of them in their various pavilions is by following the blue paw prints! Stop by the farmyard nursery to pat some calves baby goats and chickens, giving young children a great opportunity to get up close and personal with the baby animals.

Shopaholics do not fear, the pavilions are packed with everything from home and lifestyle products to fashion and technology. There is even a craft corner filled with inspiration and a kids section packed with everything the little ones could ever dream of!

If you like rides, explore the various carnivals at the Easter Show. The kid’s carnival is home to friendly rides, like small rollercoasters and slides perfect for young children and families. Hollywood Horrors provides everyone with a good scare as the walk through show brings horror films to life. For the thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies, the Coca-Cola Carnival offers 30 of the highest and wildest rides!

There is no lack of entertainment, with shows including Dinosaur Adventures, Psycho Sideshow along with character shows (including Adventure Time, Dirtgirl, How to Train Your Dragon, Looney Tunes, Peter Pan, Wizard of Oz and many more) meet and greets! Be sure to catch the rodeo, woodcutting, whip cracking and horse show jumping competitions for great family entertainment.

Every night from 8pm the ‘Australiana In All Its Glory’ production is held, showcasing Australian history, icons, paintings, and dancers with a comedic twist. The night always ends in a spectacular show of fireworks, lighting up the dark sky!
