On Sunday I went to Standing in the Shadows of MONA which is is an annual summer concert, held on the lawns of the Museum of Old and New Art, against the backdrop of Mount Wellington and the Derwent river.

Hosted by Brian Ritchie from alternative rock band Violent Femmes, featuring many unique Australian musicians, both local and interstate, and headlining with the ARIA-winning Southern Gospel Choir; Standing in the Shadows of MONA is an event well worth attending. And it's completely free.

Standing in the Shadows of Mona is for all ages and is a perfect summer day for the whole family; with tasty food, a bar for the adults and a broad summer lawn, cluttered with comfy beanbags to lie back on and listen to the powerful orchestrations and soothing melodies.

MONA is founded by a local Tasmanian personality and gambling entrepreneur; David Walsh. It was awarded the 2012 Australian Tourism Award for best new development and has some of the most amazing and controversial exhibitions in Australia as well as various live concerts and performances throughout the year. So if your looking for something to do whilst staying in Hobart, try checking out the event list for MONA.
