83 deluxe timber bungalows are built high on stilts and nestle in the forest canopy providing a magical and unobtrusive relationship with the natural world. All bungalows have views either to the ocean or the forested mountains.

 

Paths meander through rainforests and connect with 2kms of private sandy beaches. Delightful hours are spent discovering native flora & fauna, secluded coves and rock pools.

Location

45 minutes drive north of the Cairns International Airport and 15 minutes drive south of Port Douglas. Sitting spectacularly atop a peninsula with breathtaking views of untouched coastline, it is the only beach nature lodge between Cairns & Port Douglas and provides the perfect location to explore the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest.

Transfers

Airport/city transfers ex Cairns can be organized via the reservations team, please advise at time of booking. The rate is A$32 nett per person each way, this service is operated by a local coach company. The coaches meet all arriving flights, transfer time to Thala is approximately 1-1½ hours (depending on other drop offs).

Transfers between Thala and Port Douglas operate on a regular basis each day until approx 2200 hours. This service is also provided by a local shuttle company, a small fee applies.

Room Information

83 deluxe timber bungalows are built high on stilts and nestle in the forest canopy providing a magical and unobtrusive relationship with the natural world. Australian timber & granite has been used throughout creating an ambience reflecting the pristine environment. All bungalows are airconditioned, 45m2 (excluding Sandpiper Suite – approx 60m2), stylishly decorated, have screened windows and sublime views either to the ocean or forested mountains.

 

In-room amenities include television, DVD player (complimentary movies available), refrigerator, mini bar, private
granite bathroom with a separate bathtub and shower, bathrobes & slippers (excluding Jungle Walk Bungalows), hair dryer, complimentary toiletries, in room safe, iron, ironing board and ISDD telephone.

 

Check-in is 1330, check-out is 1000. Reception is open 24 hours.

 

The Sandpiper Suite is the epitome of exclusivity. Perched on the headland with views of private beaches and the Coral Sea, this bungalow is decorated with soft and subtle natural furnishings, houses a separate lounge/living area and large deck/verandah, plus all normal bungalow facilities & inclusions.

 

Coral Sea Bungalows are built high on timber poles with views over the forest canopy to the sparkling ocean, stylish natural décor, and are unobtrusively tucked away into the natural landscape.

 

Eucalypt Bungalows are privately located amongst the rainforest and provide an up-close relationship with the natural world. These spacious rooms feature a stylish natural finish.

 

Jungle Walk Bungalows are low-set deep within the forest and capture the intimate feel of the unique woodland
environment.

Bedding configuration and child policy

All bungalows contain either a king bed, or two single beds. Maximum adult capacity is two for all bungalows.

A rollaway bed can be provided on request for one child under 12 for A$50 nett per night. One child under 12 can share existing bedding FOC and/or one cot can be provided FOC. Children are charged at 50% of the adult rate for the ‘All Inclusive’ option in the respective bungalow type.
