Melbourne moonlight kayak tours

A Melbourne classic. An afternoon or evening exploration of Melbourne by Kayak is not to be missed. A great way to get a “feel” for Melbourne and experience the city from a new perspective.

Melbourne’s Yarra River is an excellent location for novice paddlers to experience kayaking for the first time. Absolutely no kayaking experience is needed to enjoy the tour; our patient guides will be with you every step of the way. Kayak Melbourne has a fleet of state of the art Sea Bear sea kayaks making the experience even easier for first time paddlers.

Our trip starts in Victoria Harbor, Docklands, Melbourne’s new playground on the water and a cutting edge residential and business park. A safety brief and introduction to paddling techniques will allow you to get the maximum enjoyment from the tour. Get acquainted with your kayak as you explore the Docklands area before tucking into some fishnchips from the FishBar, a truly unique “on water” dining experience.

After our meal we continue on upstream, under the Bolte Bridge and into Melbourne’s downtown and party strip, past lavish Crown Casino and stylish Southbank and on to Flinders Street Railway Station and Princess bridge and the approach to Melbourne’s enormous sporting precinct.

The tour ends at the Boat landing area at Southgate, right in the heart of Melbourne’s restaurant and bar precinct and just a short stroll to the Eureka Tower. Try our new “River to the Sky Tour” and combine paddling with the awesome views from Melbourne’s tallest Observation deck, Eureka Skydeck 88.

The Yarra River has always been central to Melbourne’s history. In the early 19th century Melbourne was a remote colonial outpost and the Yarra River was a vital trade link for cutters and steamships. Melbourne’s birth place was on the banks of the Yarra and today the river’s banks are experiencing a new explosion of growth. A kayaking journey down the river is the best way to experience the spiritual heart of Melbourne....
