Have you ever been to a city and wondered what all the fuss was about? Or wasted time trying to find that cool local café you were told about and ended up missing everything else on offer? Melbourne’s arcades and laneways hide many of these treasures, and our Lanes and Arcades walking tour is the ideal way to discover and learn about the enchantment of Melbourne.

On our tour of Melbourne’s signature lanes and arcades, we unveil local designers and specialty retailers that often are only found in the city. We reveal some of the quirkiest cafes, independent designers, street art, architecture, with historical tales of Melbourne along the way.
There is something for everyone, locals and visitors alike.

A delicious morning tea or coffee stop is included, along with a special souvenir bag, bottled water, map and special offers from local retailers.

We have small groups with individual guides, so you can make the most out of your Melbourne city experience.
“more than your average city sights tour!”

We include a wonderful bistro style lunch with a glass of wine or beer after your walk to conclude a great morning out.

About Our Melbourne Guides

These tours are a unique way to see the real character of Melbourne. The walking tours of the city allow you to be introduced to the culture and characteristics for which Melbourne is famous.

Unlike most cities, Melbourne’s charm is hidden away down special nooks throughout the city. Taking part in one of the tours will open your eyes up to a world you may have previously walked right passed.

Perfect for tourists and locals alike, the walking tours have something to offer all city, art, architecture or cafe enthusiasts.

A range of other tours are offered, including lanes & arcades, cafe culture, progressive degustation, heritage walk, progressive high tea as well as French language tours. Join one of the tours and fall in love with Melbourne at every step.

Our guides pride themselves on having a mission to provide a unique walking tour experience that you will only find in Melbourne. The best secrets are sometimes just hiding ready to be shared.. Our hero’s are the Laneways, the local characters, the creative heart and of course the city herself..

Their philosophy is to focus on what makes Melbourne tick. They are proud to be a certified green tourism guides that do not use vehicles. They believe in supporting small business first, and ask for no commission on any purchases that our clients make on or after our tour of Melbourne. They are passionate about all things Melbourne.

What Our Guests Say

We had a fascinating tour of the Melbourne laneways which I highly recommend - it was full of interesting facts, beautiful architecture, artisans, artists, with stories of the people and the places, both historical and contemporary - it essentially pulled up the edge of the curtain to reveal some of the hidden corners and stories of quirky Melbourne.

The pacing of the tour was good - not too slow or too fast; enough time to look up, down and around to take it all in but fast paced enough to keep your interest.

Our guide Danae was tremendous and her knowledge and passion for the city infectious - as a Melbourne resident it was gratifying to find out more about my beloved city - whilst also show it off to my international visitor who was staying with me.

Our tour guide, Sarah, is a gem! We took the Lanes & Arcades tour, which showed us a whole new side of Melbourne. Sarah was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and gave us a lot of historical background on the city. She showed us a bunch of cool shops, and we stopped for the best hot cocoa of my life. This tour is definitely a highlight that should not be missed!

My friend and I went on this tour the first morning we were in Melbourne. Our guide was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. After talking to her for a while, she was able to recommend things to us that fit with what we wanted to see and do, but weren't included in the scope of the tour. And the tour itself led us to bars, shops, and cafes that we went back to later in our stay. I highly recommend the tour, even if you've been to Melbourne before. It will show you a side of the city that only the locals seem to know about. As an added bonus, you'll hear some interesting history and stories about Melbourne, which made the tour even more enjoyable.

It was suggested that we take the Lanes & Arcade tour on our first full day visiting Melbourne and we thoroughly enjoyed it! It offered a more intimate view of the city as we toured through the lanes I am sure we would have missed otherwise. Anxious to retrace some of our steps! The beautiful arcades take you back to another time. Enjoyed our stops for coffee and lunch as it offered a chance to get to know our touring companions. Thank you Sean for sharing your love of the city. We wish we had more time to join you on one of the other tours. It was a wonderful morning despite the cool and rainy weather- in fact that made it more fun to be ducking in and out of the "secret lanes"!
