Bruny Island day tours

Description

Our Bruny Island day tours are a full day land-based guided exploration of Bruny Island. It is another quality experience from Tasmania’s multi-award winning ecotourism business.

Join us for a day of discovery, exploring Bruny Island’s spectacular landscapes, gourmet produce and inspiring local people. Savour a delicious al fresco morning tea and a cellar-door lunch of specialty produce including cheese, oysters, salmon, wine, bread and berries - all grown, made or harvested on Bruny Island. Enjoy short walks in the South Bruny National Park and see white wallabies, native wildlife and birds in their natural habitat. The climax of the day is the rare opportunity, exclusively for our guests, to climb the spiral staircase inside the historic Cape Bruny Lighthouse and enjoy the magnificent panorama from the balcony.

Stories

Time falls away as you explore the island, hear its stories and marvel at its scenery. At The Neck, you’ll reach the crest of a lofty dune and see the narrow isthmus stretch away south in graceful curves. In Adventure Bay, imagine distant echoes of the past in the place where whalers camped and launched their boats; and at Cape Bruny, enjoy the rare and exclusive experience of climbing the spiral staircase inside the historic lighthouse, to gaze seaward, just as lightkeepers did.

Spirit

On your Bruny journey you’ll meet some of the island’s food and wine producers – people who put their skill, energy and spirit into harvesting the perfect vintage, crafting the most delicious cheese, picking the sweetest summer berries, shucking the finest oysters, growing the most succulent salmon. And you’ll taste the fruits of their labour, with a wonderful lunch of island specialties, served at Australia’s southern-most vineyard.

You’ll also feel the spirit of Bruny in its birds and animals, and their wild, natural habitat – a flash of colour from a flock of swift parrots, the lazy glide of a sea eagle, an echidna’s unhurried waddle through heathland, a rare white wallaby on the edge of the bush.

Soul

Everyone who spends time on Bruny shares the experience of leaving everyday life behind. There’s a strange but exhilerating sense of ‘islandness’ – a feeling of being away and apart from the world. It‘s hard to explain, but easier to feel. You’ll know it as you walk on the empty stretch of a remote surf beach, as you look out from the lofty tower of Cape Bruny Lighthouse, and as you leave the Tasmanian mainland behind, crossing the Channel to feel an island’s soul.
