Bathurst tailor made 4WD tours, New South Wales

We offer a range of professional one day tours in and around the Bathurst area, Blue Mountains and Central West NSW. For Guests who may be nervous about a 4WD adventure, we can tailor the tour to the more mild tracks and dirt roads focusing more on the nature experience rather than the rough 4WD adventure.

For Guests who may be considering purchasing a 4WD of their own and want to learn something about driving styles and techniques, a moderate off road adventure can be designed specifically. For Guests who may already have a 4WD and want to tag-a-long, or who want to be driven around for the day in our vehicle, we can cater for a range of driver and vehicle combinations.

We can also provide interesting scenic off road tours for artists, photographers, yoga and meditation groups and those simply wanting peace and quiet. We can take people on fishing and gold prospecting tours and historical tours of the city of Bathurst and visit the regions early silver and gold mining activities.

We have winery tours where we explore the countryside and visit small owner operated wineries. You will meet the winemaker and hear about their passion while sampling some of the regions finest wines. We have no minimum group size and are happy to take individuals and small groups of up to 7 Guests. We are a small operator specialising on personal service rather than mass production of our tours. We take Guests away to a place of escape from the everyday - every day of the week. You’ll have fun and see things you never knew existed in our spacious comfortable new off-road 4WD vehicle.

Standard Tour Options

Kanangra-Boyd National Park, Kowmung River and Dingo Dell

The tour officially starts at the Kanangra-Boyd National Park turn off along the Oberon-Jenolan Caves road, although much can be gained along the way while traveling through the countryside en-route to the town of Oberon before heading to the start point. Learning from the guide about the history of the park is an integral part of this tour. Once at the end of Kanangra road, a comfortable walk will take Guests to view the majestic Kanangra Walls. This is a wonderful photo opportunity. The tour then backtracks along Kanangra Rd before descending into the valley along the Kowmung River Fire trail, stopping to observe and learn about nature and take photographs before crossing the Kowmung River. Lunch is provided at Dingo Dell. Time is spent here enjoying the surroundings while lunch is being prepared. Depending on Guest requirements, the trip home can backtrack through Oberon, or detour through to Jenolan Caves before heading home through Hampton and Rydal. Pickup is generally 8.30am returning by 5pm.

Forests and Reserves of the Jenolan Area

The tour can be tailored to individual requirements but generally goes via Rydal Lithgow or Hampton, scouting through parts of the Hampton State Forest, along the Jenolan Caves Road, through the Jenolan State Forest and Kanangra-Boyd National Parks. The tour focuses on responsible use of a 4WD and protecting the environment when enjoying nature; understanding the area including the age, formation and history of the Blue Mountains National Park and learning about the diverse flora and fauna that exist in the areas being visited. You will enjoy a vast range of fauna with Kangaroo and Wallaby sightings being a common occurrence. We descend into the valleys via steep tracks and fire trails to cross creeks and streams. You’ll see firsthand how a four wheel drive vehicle can be and should be used in the most environmentally and eco sensitive way to protect and enjoy the environment. This tour descends to around 500m above sea level and climbs to over 1100m in a very short space. You’ll marvel at the steepness of some tracks and come away with a wonderful 4WD experience and will feel a million miles away from pressures of day to day life on this great tour. Pickup is generally 9.00am returning by 4pm.

Abercrombie River National Park and surrounding areas

Commencing at Bathurst, the tour meanders along the Beaconsfield Road from the historical village of O’Connell, passing through the village of Black Springs and onto the start of the Abercrombie River National Park via the Arkstone Road entrance. Like the Kanangra-Boyd tour, the tracks are moderate in complexity offering some wonderfully secluded views and scenery throughout the day. Lunch is prepared at either The Sink, or Silent Creek before wandering along the various trails learning about the flora and fauna that exists in the areas being visited. There are a number of alternative routes that can be enjoyed within the park before rejoining Abercrombie Road. The return home can be achieved in a number of ways but generally is via Oberon and Lowes Mount Road, Mutton Falls Road and O’Connell. Pickup is generally 9.00am returning by 4pm.

The Blue Mountains - a different perspective

While not necessarily designed as a National Park tour of the Blue Mountains, this tour is designed to admire the Blue Mountains and surrounds predominantly by viewing the western escarpments from areas such as the Bells Line of Road, The Darling Causeway, Hartley Vale, Hartley, Cox River Road and the Jenolan Caves Road. This tour can be tailored to your personal preferences and can encompass local village cemeteries, local historic architecture and other points of interest in the area. The tour is designed as a comfortable day trip with an educational base with a high emphasis on historical points of interest that may be missed by tourists on a self drive tour. We will visit some great lookouts and enjoy some very scenic views along the way. You can have a lunch on tour or we can tailor your trip to stop at a pub, cafe or restaurant, for an extended break. The choices for this tour are many; and the choices are all yours.

Sunny Corner and surrounding areas

This tour has several great advantages.Guests will be off the main road within 15 minutes of the start of the tour. The tour can be tailored to the level of enthusiasm of the Guests; from a gentle drive in the bush, to more challenging terrain, including steeper sections of the Sunny Corner area. Depending on the needs of the Guests, lunch can be as simple as a BBQ or salad lunch on the side of a track or the tour can be directed to arrive at a nearby pub or cafe for a more formal lunch break. Education is provided throughout the tour on the diverse range of flora and fauna found in the area, including the existence of the Bathurst Copper Butterfly, its unique habitat and the dangers to its existence. Guests will learn about the pine logging operations in the area, the regeneration of forests and former mining activity in the area as well as discussion on the wide range of terrain found in the area. This tour provides a great 4WD experience with an educational base close to Bathurst.

Wolgan Valley, Newnes and surrounding areas

This is a longer day tour that takes us on back roads, heading toward the majestic views of the ancient Wolgan valley, stopping for photos and historical observations along the way. The tour then proceeds down into the Wolgan Valley area to admire the sheer cliffs, the natural environment and to learn about the shale oil mining activity in the Newnes area. Lunch is provided along the way. Depending on time spent in the Wolgan valley, a Great little tour will see us climb along one of the many escarpments high up in the hills behind Lithgow. You’ll see some great stone sculptures and learn about the history of this part of the Blue Mountains – one of the most westerly points in our area. For the more adventurous Guests, a return trip through the Sunny Corner area is possible, or a short historical tour of the Lithgow area is possible, weather and time permitting.
