Want Aussie? Want contemporary? A sea view? A beach location? You could do much worse than Dunes Brasserie & Bar in Wollongong. This place is a favourite of mine located in the city of Wollongong, just south of Sydney.

Wollongong is a great city, with plentiful eateries, an enjoyable atmosphere. Wollongong is set within a fantastic natural environment. For a town just outside a capital, imagine this. The Royal National Park to your north, Lake Illawarra to the south, Tasman Sea to the East, Sydney not far away. The Pacific Drive, rainforests on your doorstep. Or would you prefer Woking?

The ninth biggest city in Australia, the place is also something of a spot for arts and culture. The Nan Tien Temple, the biggest Buddhist temple in the southern hemisphere for example. Wollongong people also host numerous festivals, have a city art gallery and a museum. How many festivals does Woking City Council allow it's people to have?

Arts and culture not your thing? There are 17 glistening surf beaches in Wollongong.

Back to Dunes Brasserie & Bar. As I said, fine contemporary Australian dining on the beach. Nothing too formal but they do prefer it if you book. If you just want a drink, a sundowner there is a bar inside and outside. It's a lovely place. You'll enjoy your time there.

If you fancy something different you could try the Lagoon Seafood Restaurant, The Beachouse Seafood Restaurant, Diggies, Levendi, Austi. Alternatively, Bomborra, Oscars, Hogs Breath or the Outback Steakhouse.

Or you could stay in Woking and go to Pizza Express.
